Jeeves and Wooster

Caught this show on ABC and I just had to get out my pad and sketch them. Jeeves and Wooster are the masters of expression. Here are a couple.

Live caricatures at ‘Really Really Free Market’

Today at the sketchgroup meet someone mentioned the Really Really Free Market was running in the afternoon. So I decided it would be a great opportunity to go do some live caricature. So thats what I did. Here are my efforts. I was happy with most of them, and learnt alot in the 2 hours I was there for.

For example, bring a drawing board and something to sit on to avoid a wet arse.  Also my current time per caricature is about 15 minutes. Mind you most of these were groups of 2 or 3 people which I have rarely done in the past.

Danny Trejo

Noticed a few Danny Trejo sketches floating around on the web lately, so I decided to join the fun.  Here is my sketch of Danny Trejo, the most bad-ass face in hollywood. Total time taken approx 1 hr.

Todays sketch group meet (16 May)

We’ve managed to get a sketchgroup off the ground here in Perth.  So far we’ve had two meets in the past two weeks down at Hyde Park. It’s been great meeting and getting to know all some new local new artists. Jump on the facebook group for updates for the next meet.

This time round i did caricatures of everyone who rocked up.  Here are the end results from left to right – Toby, Ryan, Michael, Simon and Mel. Follow the links to check out their respective websites and amazing art.

Avon Barksdale caricature

Been gettin into HBO’s ‘The Wire’ in a big way lately. Avon Barksdale is the head of the Barksdale gang and one of my favourite characters from the show.

Rob

This is Rob. It comes with stick, hat and unique swivel motion!!

Kat is a real person.  She looks more or less like this, but in real life she is more ranga. She would make an awesome comic character.

Marcel & Wade go out

At the recent Perth Film Network function at The Flying Scotsman, I was pretty pleased to see these two out and about. Its the Marcel Tee (featuring Sinclair aka Kym Bidstrup) and the Wade Tee featuring… wade.

Cheers to Naomi & Wade for your awesomeness.

New Commissioned Tees – Marcel & Wade

Here are two tees commisioned by Wade himself. The first is “Sinclair”, a character from Marcel Trilogy (check out the trailers here and here). Second is a variation of my previous vector portrait of Mr. Savage.

Hit the links to check out the tees over at the store.  You can choose from heaps of different colours and about 4 different styles.

Obamarama

Figured I might as well join the hype and whip up a caricature of Obama while its still hot! I’m really glad he won, I think he will be a great leader.

I made a custom brush for this piece and it worked really well. Also decided to leave most of the underlying pencil work, which I personally feel adds abit of character and depth to the piece, especially when all the rest is digital.

“The Crew”

Commissioned as a going away gift my brother and his workmates at Westpac for their friend Hayley who is moving to the country. Group caricatures are usually quite tough as not only do you have to worry about likeness but composition and interactivity between the subjects as well. Still, as long as win > fail I’m satisfied.
