Mumbai scenes

Most people who live in Mumbai or have visited it would recognise these right away. The “Gateway of India”, “Marine Drive” and “Flora Fountain”.
These are among some of the most iconic landmarks in the city.

I did these in fine tip ink pen on 300gsm watercolour paper while I was in the UK recently.

Probably the first time in a while I’ve had a crack at doing landscapes / architecture – they turned out quite well!

Did these for someone while I was in the UK last month. Pen illustrations of various Indian scenes, and landmarks. They are about A5 in size. Probably do larger prints of these down the track.

Boo & Silly’s Big Apple Adventure

My mate Chris commissioned me recently to illustrate a short children’s book he wished to present as a gift to a friend. He came up with the idea, the story and everything else. He even got finger puppets made for each of the characters in the book – so the narrator could wear them while telling the story. Brilliant is the word! I did the rest, and he got it printed online.

Commission: April O’Squeal

First caricature of someone as an animal. Apparently someone accidentally mistook “O’Squeal” as “O’Squirrel” and the name stuck. Gold. Also a box of cats for lulz.

Raising the Dead!

I did this recently for Stefan’s zombie film fundraiser. The zombies are all based on characters in the film. This will probably be advertised in the street press (xpress, drum etc) as well as pasteups around the place. If you see one, send me a pic! Thanks

Also, I will be doing Zombie Caricatures on the night – in conjunction with the zombie face painters.

Cavefire Cinema album artwork

Some pics of the making of the Cavefire Cinema album ‘Discipline’. The guys were after two samurai meditating in a Japanese setting prior to a fight to the death.

I decided to use a 6 panel roll fold design to allow it to ‘wrap-around’ – like a metaphor for the cycle of life and death. Theres also a whole bunch of other hidden meaning. For example, the artwork beneath the disc shows the blood spattered ground (death) while the disc itself is a view of the sky representing the view the dieing warrior sees before his spirit is released… represented by a soaring eagle.

I started by gathering a ton of research on samurais from movie screenshots, and other photos. Then I did some rough sketches, composited them in photoshop, and printed them out to ink by hand.

Then I scanned those back into photoshop and coloured everything, and put it into Indesign for the layout side of things.

New business cards!!

Been a while but I finally got a new set of business cards done, and with all the extras.

Double-sided matt lamination, super heavy weight 400gsm stock, custom 8mm round corners, and with a dollop of sweet spot uv varnish to finish it off. I chucked on all the illustrated work I’ve done so far in 2010.
