Dr Sketchys with Viking Santa

The last Dr.Sketchys for 2011 was quite an epic show. Two guys with full armour and weaponry came up on stage. They even staged a mock battle.. that drew real blood. Definitely made for excellent entertainment and some great drawing. I think last night had some of the best work I have ever seen at Dr.Sketchys to date.

For example… this is some of Jennas work. It comes with a far superior breakdown of the night’s events.

These are some of my sketches from the night.

Brownes Kick Storyboard

I worked on concepts and storyboards for the Brownes “Kick” TVC recently. These are a sample of the storyboards I did for that project. Also featuring my good friend Iskandar (Perth Y U SO SMALL).

Caricatures from Feast your Eyes

So, drawing in a live setting with an expectant subject and curious onlookers in permanent ink is a pretty relaxing thing……… </sarcasm>.

Seriously though, I hadn’t done this in a while and I needed the extra shot of confidence and experience. Especially if I want this to be a regular thing. Turned out rather well I thought – although I was surprised that it was mostly girls who wanted caricatures done.

Anyway, I think once I get over the nerves and relax a little I’ll be able to take a few more risks and push these illustrations a little further. And get the time down. There were a few folks who waited till the end and missed out. Turned out I still had ink and paper, but ran out of minutes! Ah well, I’m sure there will be another gig soon and I will let you all know.

Here are some of the caricatures I did last night.

By the way, if I did one of you, and you have access to a scanner I would be your friend forever if you could scan it and send it to me. I will post it up on caricaturesbyjeff.com

Cheers ^_^

Dr Sketchys 5 October 2011

Tried some of the new ink with the new brushes and watercolours last night at Dr. Sketchys. Ella Jezebella was the model. She did some voodoo priestess stuff and later turned into a go-go dancer. Not bad.

Ball-point sketching off music videos

Been sketchin alot with ball-point pens on brown paper lately. Pausing live tv at various moments trying to capture challenging angles and whatnot. These were some. Posted a few more caricatures in the same medium over on my new caricature blog.

A spot of sketching at the Moon

While two hipsters nearby threw a hilarious hissy fit over being asked for ID, Simon and me churned out a few sketches. This is mine – in a sketchbook I haven’t touched in over 2 years. I took pics of it during the process so ignore the large gap of incompleteness in the middle.

Also if you wish to join, then join our modest sketchgroup on facebook – where we regularly post the venues for similar future antics.

‘Perth Illustrators’ Meet up at 399 Bar

This went down without a hitch, just like my pear cider. Ran headlong into some amazing new artists like this guy,  and a couple of chaps from Last Chance studio.

I doodled up this mishmash of whatnot.

Swearengen you )(#$*(&@#$

Repeats of Deadwood on ABC1 at the moment. Cannot pass up the opportunity to do a few quick sketches. This ones in pencil and copics, you hoopleheads….
