Alias sketchbook pro

Well its now called Autodesk Sketchbook Pro but regardless of the name, DAMN. This is one hot piece of kit. Especially when combined with my Cintiq. I was up till nearly 3AM last night mucking around with these two bad boys. Here’s one of my sketches – should really make a habit of drawing at 3AM… the inpiration gods r kind at that time.

More Exomod Cafe Sketches

Heres a few more colourful people who walk up and down Beaufort street. Some are straight from my imagination, but all inspired nonetheless by the wonderful characters you find in Mount Lawley.

exomod sketches

sketches of random passers by, ppl waiting at the bus stop and ppl having coffee at Exomod Cafe in Mount Lawley.

From memory, the large chap with the akubra was waiting for about 20 minutes at the bus-stop one sunday morning. The rest are a mish-mash of people I saw during the week.

Schoolism Assignment #1 – Fat Joe

So I recently signed up for a Character Design course at Schoolism with Stephen Silver . We had to do some sketches of Fat Joe and these were my submitted final pieces.

fatjoecompiled

This was the first assignment:

You are to design a concept sketch of Fat Joe based on the play, The Long Voyage Home. Take it as far as you like.

Description:
SCENE—The bar of a low dive on the London water front—a squalid, dingy room dimly lighted by kerosene lamps placed in brackets on the walls At the far end of the bar stands Fat Joe, the proprietor, a gross bulk of a man with an enormous stomach. His face is red and bloated, his little piggish eyes being almost concealed by rolls of fat. The thick fingers of his big hands are loaded with cheap rings and a gold watch chain of cable-like proportions stretches across his checked waistcoat.

A rather important area I need to improve on is clothing. In particular, attention to the physics of folds and shadows.

Martial Arts Poses

martial arts poses are really awesome to draw. not only do they look good but you get great practice with folds and shadows when drawing their costumes
