Figured I might as well join the hype and whip up a caricature of Obama while its still hot! I’m really glad he won, I think he will be a great leader.

I made a custom brush for this piece and it worked really well. Also decided to leave most of the underlying pencil work, which I personally feel adds abit of character and depth to the piece, especially when all the rest is digital.

Here are some new character designs I’ve been playing around with. I’ve decided to go for a slightly rougher, more low-fi style of linework with these instead of a clean vector style. In most cases I’ve left the underling construction lines visible beneath the final linework.

I kinda like this way of working because its far more organic than all that pen-tool tweaking in illustrator.

I havnt done any proper drawing in ages so recently I’ve been madly trying to “catch up” on the past few months. Here is a pen and ink sketch of Mr. Cave from reference.

Commissioned as a going away gift my brother and his workmates at Westpac for their friend Hayley who is moving to the country. Group caricatures are usually quite tough as not only do you have to worry about likeness but composition and interactivity between the subjects as well. Still, as long as win > fail I’m satisfied.

Jack Nicholson Caricature

Hopefully evident, this is a caricature of Jackie boy. Probably one of the easier faces to caricature out in hollywoodworld. I’m trying to do more celebs these days since their universal recognisability (is that even a word) means anyone (not just my friends) can instantly tell if its a win or a fail.

Also, i’ve started putting a watermark on my images. Not something I’ve been too particular about in the past but its getting to that point where I need to take my stuff more seriously.
