Wade K. Savage

wadeI bring you Writer/Director Wade K. Savage from over at Dark House Imagery (DHI) Studios. Wade’s thrown a lot of cool projects my way over the years, the most recent being artwork for the Marcel Trilogy. It’s big in Japan.

This piece is 100% vector. I did it as practice for some future projects along these lines.

Sister Act

Marise and CathI am somewhat closely related to these two. Family are usually the hardest people to draw. This particular piece is completely digital. Been playing around with custom brushes and halftones – worked a treat!

Tees

XD Tee!!

Well, this is one of my favourite tees and my mate Jiano just got himself one. Of course as soon as I found out i forced him to wear it to a party on the weekend so I could get some pics of it in the wild.

Verdict: Awesome!!

It is available in heaps of colours and styles - Get it here

Dr. Sketchy’s April 09

This was my 3rd Dr. Sketchys show. Awesome as always – and a new venue too. “The Duke” put on a wicked show with lots of style and really cool poses.

Everytime I go I try a different style – either pencils, or pens, brushpens etc. This time I tried my Pantone markers to get down the tone. They bled like crazy and some of my other markers weren’t water-proof and got all caught up in the fun. lame

And the one with the thought bubble won me a free pass for next time *yay.

Tees

Tee’s in the wild

Here we have my sister and her celebrity boyfriend sporting some of my tees. Now how awesome is that!! You guys are rockin!

You can get these or some other wack designs over at my store on redbubble. It’s totally secure, awesome value and you can choose your style and colour. Apart from sipping a hot hazelnut soy latte over at Exomod on a cold morning.. life doesnt get much better.

Congoro – Draft Promo Poster

After much work, including a hilarious improvised photoshoot in my backyard, this is more or less the final draft for the Congoro Poster. The brief was simply to have the characters in the film bursting out of a script.

I’ve also chucked in some of the rough layouts and original sketches.

Constable Care Calendar 09 – Final

Well here it is in it’s entirety. The printed version is about A1 in size. You can hopefully spot one at most primary schools around the state.  Make sure you view the full image for maximum effect. (It will take a while to load depending on your connection, bcos its huuuuge).

See if you can spot me :-)

Deadwood – Al Swearengen

My favourite character from the HBO series Deadwood. His face is so much fun to draw. It is so full of lines and character. I don’t think I’ve ever come across a more interesting looking person. Although after familiarising myself with him over 3 seasons, I find the actor (Ian McShane) looks rather strange without his trademark moustache.

I paused the DVD at various scenes and did some rough sketches in colour pencil. I tried to go for strange angles and lighting – just to make things a little challenging.

Constable Care Calendar 09

Every year I do the Constable Care annual Calendar which gets sent out to all the primary schools in WA. Last year I did a height-chart combined calendar. For this year I decided to go for broke and do a ‘wheres wally’ style artwork where the viewer has to spot Constable Care dealing with various community issues.

Dr. Sketchys Anti-Art Show (December)

This is the second Dr. Sketchy’s I’ve been to.  Its a pretty awesome take on life-drawing, where the models put on much more of a dynamic performance than a traditional life-drawing session. There are prizes, and audience participation and its quite a entertaining little package.

These are some of my sketches from last night’s show featuring Ms Kitty Von Ditty (aka Steve). Sometimes I dont bother trying to draw the model herself, but use her pose to do my own characters. The 3rd and 4th sketches are examples of this.

This is some concept art I did for Perth Director Loren Johnson’s feature film “Redback”. Set in the Aussie outback and based on a screenplay by LA Writer Karen Rodriguez.

Obamarama

Figured I might as well join the hype and whip up a caricature of Obama while its still hot! I’m really glad he won, I think he will be a great leader.

I made a custom brush for this piece and it worked really well. Also decided to leave most of the underlying pencil work, which I personally feel adds abit of character and depth to the piece, especially when all the rest is digital.
