Liminal Magazine

I made these drawings to accompany Julie Koh’s satirical short story about the (actual) looting of the Summer Palace in 1860 by British forces. Julie wrote this in the voice of Enid Blyton and I created illustrations in a period style to match. The story is published in Liminal Magazine Vol II.

It’s worth pointing out that I developed the historical characters by reinterpreting their portraits as children, but wearing the same military regalia they posed in. It was a really fun exercise!
